My very first year in a Montessori classroom my mentor teacher, Merritt, did a cooking activity where the kids made monster toast. The kids loved it, I loved it and have used it in my classroom every Halloween since. This year Hayes and I decided to put an Easter spin on monster toast and make painted Easter egg toast!
Here’s what you need:
- Bread
- Food Coloring (I used gel because it makes the color more intense but you can use regular food coloring too)
- Clean paint brushes
- Small cups of milk (one for each color)
- Cookie Cutter
First, add drops of food coloring to each cup of milk until you get the color you want.
Use your cookie cutter to cut out your egg shaped toast. It would be fun to do some flower or bunny toast too 🙂
Let your inner Picasso come out! Using the colored milk as your paint decorate your bread eggs.
Take your painted eggs and toast them in your toaster oven or toaster and…….
TA DA!!!! EASTER TOAST!!!!! Super fun, easy, cute and delish!
Have a feeling this is going to become a tradition in our household 🙂
Enjoy!
