Dollar bin at Target, oh how I love thee! I found these awesome plastic chalkboard eggs and I had to take them home. They came in two sizes: 1 jumbo egg for $1 or an egg carton of 12 regular sized eggs with chalk for $3. Even though I am in full time mom mode and not teaching in a montessori classroom at the moment, it can be hard to turn that teacher brain off. So I took these super cool eggs and came up with three super fun activities all using the same printable 🙂 Fun for in the classroom or at home.
I took the jumbo egg and created a bunch of different designs photographing each one. And used those images to make the printable that will go with these activities. Download, print, cut out and laminate the chalk egg cards.
ACTIVITY #1: Copying the Pattern
For this activity the child picks a card and tries to copy the design on the jumbo egg with chalk. Erase and repeat. Also this jumbo egg is great for just some free doodling 🙂
ACTIVITY #2: Egg and Card Match
I used a chalk marker to copy the designs from the cards onto the smaller set of eggs. The chalk marker is perfect because you can wash it off to change the designs or use of the eggs later, but it doesn’t smudge when handled.
Now the kiddos can try and match each egg to the card with the identical design 🙂
ACTIVITY #3: Card to Card Matching or Memory Game
And last but not least, you can print out two sets of the egg cards and have the kids use them for picture to picture matching or for a game of memory. 🙂
